Row 44 satellite-based Wi-Fi Utilities was substantiated on a few Boeing 737 to 700s in Alaska Airlines. The initial experimental flight will occur amidst Seattle as well as San Jose and the utility will be available for 60 days at no extra charge. Costing has not been settled but it will be probably near to what AA’s or VA’s rate for the Aircell’s Gogo service.
AA will introduce a client trial for their latest satellite-based Wi-Fi utility. This is called AA’s Inflight Wi-Fi service which can utilized on Wi-Fi equipped device like portable media player, smart phone or laptop. The utility is free of charge for the trial period. Once the trial period is successful, the airline will decide on the timetable for beginning the commercial availability of the Wi-Fi service to the whole fleet of aircraft.
